La mécanique du nouveau CEBIT a fonctionné : dans la journée, les exposants ont enregistré des leads dans les halls d’exposition Un visiteur sur trois faisait partie du top management de son entreprise. Plus d’un visiteur sur quatre avait fait le déplacement de l’étranger. La journée de conférence le lundi avait fait le plein d’inscriptions avant même le coup d’envoi du nouveau CEBIT. Sur les scènes de la conférence, plus de 30 000 spectateurs ont suivi tous les jours les keynotes et les débats autour des opportunités et des risques de la numérisation. « Le nouveau CEBIT est le forum de débat autour de la transformation numérique de l’économie et de la société », a déclaré Oliver Frese. Au cœur de la première édition du CEBIT figuraient avant tout l’intelligence artificielle, la chaîne de blocs, la mobilité future, les réseaux rapides, la sécurité, les systèmes autonomes et la robotique humanoïde.

Sur le d!campus, la numérisation se vivait dans une ambiance lounge, sur la grande roue, le dôme consacré à la réalité virtuelle ou dans le Cloud Lifter. En soirée, une ambiance de festival a régné grâce à la participation de Mando Diao, Jan Delay et Digitalism, sans oublier la démonstration de drones.

Dès la première minute, le nouveau concept du CEBIT a prouvé qu’il était particulièrement pertinent. Sur le net, le CEBIT a tenu la vedette pendant des jours : le streaming en direct en ligne des conférences a été utilisé par plus de 400 000 personnes. Chaque jour sur les réseaux sociaux, le CEBIT a attiré plus d’un demi-million de personnes. Et les exposants ont fait état de portées qui se chiffrent en millions. Les hashtags #cebit, #cebit18 et #cebit2018 sont arrivés en tête des classements Twitter en Allemagne durant les premiers jours. 120 000 personnes ont arpenté le parc des expositions.

Tout Hanovre s’est transformé pendant une semaine en CEBIT City. Des milliers de visiteurs ont profité de la d!lounge sur le Kröpcke, la place centrale de la ville, qui diffusait de retransmissions en direct du parc des expositions et ont participé aux conférences-débats sur la scène. Il y a eu aussi la soirée club et le grand final en plein-air le vendredi soir dans le centre-ville où plusieurs milliers d’invités étaient attendus.

« Le vent de fraîcheur insufflé par le nouveau CEBIT signale un nouveau départ placé sous le signe de la numérisation, comme on a pu s’en rendre compte à travers chaque détail », a déclaré Oliver Frese. « Après cette première édition réussie, nous nous retroussons maintenant les manches pour travailler au CEBIT 2019 avec nos partenaires. »

New ideas for the mobility of the future

The new CEBIT area Future Mobility exhibits pioneering concepts for digital mobility. Volkswagen has announced “a festival of innovations” for CEBIT – from a test project with blockchain support to artificial intelligence in business to data-based traffic optimization in large cities. “The highlight will be a four-wheeled world premiere autonomous driving concept,” said Jonas Kulawik, IT Spokesperson, Global Group Communications, Volkswagen, at the Preview in Hannover, Germany (Hall 25, Stand A23; open-air site Q60).

IONITY wants to set up a pan-European high-power charging network for electric vehicles, a joint venture from carmakers BMW, Daimler, Ford and the Volkswagen group. Charging stations with output of up to 350 kW will provide convenient rapid charging along major highways in 18 countries. CEBIT visitors can use virtual reality to dive into the world of eMobility, and admire the futuristic design of the first charging station prototypes (Hall 25, Stand B48).

To prevent emissions, traffic jams and parking headaches, there are plans to supplement urban public transportation systems with shared electric taxis. e.GO Mobile is presenting the e.GO Mover electric minibus and the e.GO Life city car at CEBIT. “The e.GO Mover for 14 passengers is designed for on-demand service and supports highly automated driving,” reported e.Go co-founder Mathias Kreimeier at the Preview (Hall 25, Stand A27).

Deutsche Bahn wants to win over 50 million more passengers to long-distance travel by 2030 – without laying down any new track. At CEBIT, visitors can discover how they plan to do this. Also being introduced at the fair is the smart platform edge that indicates where the doors will be before a train arrives. And the first games in the 2018 World Cup will be broadcast in a public viewing section of a future regional train (Hall 25, Stand A37).

CEBIT has formed a long-term partnership with the ADAC German automobile club. “‘We’re evolving the club from a highway assistance to a mobility assistance service,” says ADAC President Dr. August Markl, “and these changes will be presented at CEBIT.” As the Community Captain for startup platform scale11, the club plays host to young mobility companies. There is also a pitch session for innovative business ideas (Hall 27/scale11 and Hall 25, Stand B27).

Concepts for tomorrow’s working world

It is not just mobility that is changing with breathtaking speed, but also the world of work. AMAGNO is showcasing a revolutionary Living Documents technology at CEBIT, that lets you surf through documents as if they were webpages. By clicking an order number, file reference or name, users can view additional files, scanned documents and e-mails related to any process or case (Hall 14, Stand H20).

The Smart City by Ricoh gives hands-on access to the Workplace 4.0, with space for exciting and inspiring expert keynotes on trending topics in business. The City is featuers seven real-world examples of core aspects of the digitally transformed world of work: data security, digital workflow, mobile solutions, co-working, technological innovations, environmental protection and digitization consulting (Technology Academy, Pavilion 36).

ATOS accompanies the digital transformation of customers from a wide range of industries worldwide. At CEBIT the company shows how a future project manager will do their work, using concrete examples and live demos. Big Data and artificial intelligence are key factors (Hall 13, Stand C74 and open-air site M59).

LG Electronics is displaying its cloud monitors for the first time in Europe. These make it easy to set up quick and convenient workspaces almost anywhere. To give employees access to the necessary data from their company network, the cloud serves as storage to make all programs and services available – as well as additional computing power where needed (Hall 13, Stand D122).

DATEV is using a digital experience pathway to demonstrate at CEBIT what digitization of everyday processes in every company means. Various development stages are also visualized – from founding to successful market entry. Topics include digital bookkeeping, mobile applications for the business environment and eCommerce solutions (Hall 17, Stand F06).

A crash test for web apps and the potential of the blockchain

Ever more work processes are carried out online these days, which means that large volumes of sensitive data must be protected from outside attacks. This is the focus of the startup Crashtest Security, nominated for the CEBIT Innovation Award 2018: The Crashtest Security Suite offers comprehensive security testing for programs in the web (Hall 27, Stand F82).

Of course, cool blockchain startups are also at CEBIT. eCoin Investment has specialized in solutions to easily find your way in the world of cryptocurrencies, and develops high quality mining systems. At CEBIT the company is presenting a selection of its products, showing how to earn money with Bitcoin and its sister currencies, and testing visitors’ crypto-knowledge (Hall 12, Stand B36/1).

Citizen project with blockchain and trends in eGovernment

Promising new concepts also abound in the eGovernment sector. At the Preview, Materna presented its Citizen Blockchain project, planned as a CEBIT Showcase with a fine particulates map. This project will allow people to share data from privately operated air quality measurement stations, and earn blockchain tokens. Municipal partners are still being sought at CEBIT (Hall 15, Stand G54).

The kommune.digital initiative is exhibiting for the first time at CEBIT. Municipal elected officials and other decision-makers can experience new concepts and innovative solutions for tomorrow’s networked cities. Numerous exhibitors are showcasing applications that enable integrated, sustainable digitization (Hall 14, Stand L35).

Augmented & virtual reality for live events of all kinds

The startup VRTX Labs is demonstrating how a visit to CEBIT in 2020 might look, using an augmented & virtual reality app for interactive real-time visualization. In the future, a glance at a smartphone will be enough to call up an explanatory video for an exhibit or hook into the in-hall events program. Real-life experience is enhanced with playful features that invite users to discover the virtual tradeshow world (Hall 27, Stand B23/4).

Influencer marketing trends and entertainment at d!campus

These days many companies want to take advantage of influencers. With CEBIT!signals, Deutsche Messe and blogfoster are presenting Europe’s largest influencer marketing event. More than 1,000 bloggers are expected for Digital Friday (15 June). A program highlight: “From online promotion to YouTube star: How to build a brand with two million followers without investing a penny in advertising” (Keynote with Alexander Giesecke and Nicolai Schork, Managing Directors, TheSimpleCub; Hall 27).

Even a big business festival should include plenty of fun. That’s why, next to the SAP ferris wheel in more than 250 square meters of open-air site, SILPION IT-Solutions is hosting a foosball arena. Nerds, analysts and economists are all unanimous in rating the blockchain as an economic breakthrough. But what is actually behind the term “blockchain”, and why is this new technology such a game changer for our global economy? Every blockchain is essentially a ledger for a chain of digital transactions. Because all processes are stored in a decentralized, distributed fashion on millions of computers on the Web, the technology is considered highly secure, especially due to the prevention of any retroactive interventions or deletion processes.

Opportunities for automation and enhanced efficiency

The blockchain offers extraordinary opportunities for businesses to automate their processes and boost efficiency. The focus is on mapping business transactions that require the highest degree of confidence, predictability and transparency – from concluding contracts and sharing consumer goods (for example, car sharing) to transacting payments via cryptocurrencies like bitcoin or Ethereum. At the moment, digital currencies that may someday take the place of the so-called fiat currencies are the best-known use cases for the blockchain.

But experts also see a considerable potential for smart contracts – for instance, when renting out properties: If a tenant has transferred his deposit and wants to move in, he could automatically receive a digital key for the electronic lock on the apartment door without the landlord or any other party needing to take any action. The blockchain is also ideally suited for secure data transfer on the Internet of Things or for trading in renewable energies, which are fed into the network by local producers. Completely different areas of application are also conceivable: With texts, images or videos, for example, you can prove the origin and the processing steps if the corresponding data is documented in a blockchain – an effective tool in the battle against fake news.

At Europe’s business festival for innovation and digitization, the blockchain is a key theme which will be highlighted in many different places. For example, at IBM. “In the digital economy, trust is more important than ever,” explains Matthias K. Hartmann, CEO of IBM Germany. “Using the blockchain, we can digitally map, track and exchange almost anything of value – without requiring a centralized control point.”

At CEBIT, IBM will be presenting what it says is the first commercial blockchain platform to be offered in the form of a software-as-a-service solution. To this end, the company is highlighting customer projects from a several different sectors. Working in tandem with logistics provider Maersk, IBM is developing a digital platform for global trade to ensure greater transparency in freight transport across national borders. Interested parties will also learn how other technologies – such as the Internet of Things – can be connected using the blockchain (open-air site, pavilion P34/35).

SAP is also demonstrating the innovative power of the blockchain with a logistics concept – an interactive touchscreen demo illustrating the emergence of a smoothie based on fair trade practices. Linked 3-D elements can be used to follow how the blockchain is revolutionizing digital supply chains. The showcase is intended to illustrate how the origin control system ensures security and increases efficiency (Hall 27, open-air site, pavilion P44).

Materna’s Citizen Blockchain project demonstrates how public administration can benefit from blockchain technology: In the future, citizens will be able to provide data from privately operated air measuring stations in return for digital tokens for a permanently updated fine dust map; these can be managed via app and redeemed online. Materna is looking for municipalities, districts and countries which are interested in participating in the project (Hall 15, Stand G54).

Mach AG (Hall 14, Stand H 58) is also providing information on the blockchain. At the “Future Technologies” camp, CEBIT visitors can witness the potential added value for their organizations which new technologies like augmented reality, artificial intelligence and the blockchain can provide. Special highlights include daily showcases for the use of augmented reality in connection with eFiles or the application of artificial intelligence in the context of document capture. In addition, MACH experts will be encouraging idea-sharing for blockchain use cases, for instance the management of processes and finances in public administration.

A CEBIT showcase at DXC Technology combines the megatrends of robotics and the blockchain: On the open-air site, you can watch a robot at work mixing drinks and receiving orders via a blockchain-based order chain. A marketplace for the monetization of data will also be on display (open-air site, Stand R62).

eCoin Investment specializes in solutions for easy access to the world of cryptocurrencies, including high-quality mining systems for carrying out transactions with bitcoin et al. At CEBIT, the company will present a cross-section of its products while featuring live mining and testing the crypto-knowledge of its visitors (Hall 12, Stand B36/1).

PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) plans to make the emerging Internet of Values directly tangible with its Blockchain Xperience on Friday, 15 June on the Expert Stage in Hall 12, where visitors will get to know how the technology works throughout the day, in one-hour simulations by becoming part of a blockchain themselves.

Also on Friday, 15 June, the CEBIT Blockchain Summit will take place in Hall 12 on the Center Stage, featuring top-class experts. The opening keynote speech will be held by Prof. Wolfgang Prinz, Vice Chairman of Fraunhofer FIT. Further lectures with a number of real-life practical examples will be given by Sebastian Epple, IBM DACH blockchain leader, Dr. Friederike Ernst, Secretary General of the German Blockchain Association, Dinko Eror, General Manager of Dell EMC Germany, Sven Korschinowski, partner of the auditing firm KPMG and consultant for corporations, banks and fintech start-ups, Kaales Lardi, Managing Partner at Lardi & Partner Consulting.

Shaw will be speaking on the Grand Central Stage in Hall 27 at the CEBIT Artificial Intelligence Summit on Wednesday, 13 June.

In 2015, Shaw published a study on false memories that put her career on a stellar path. Using the power of suggestion, she convinced test subjects that they had experienced various emotional events – even committed crimes – which had in fact never happened. Julia Shaw is now commonly dubbed a “memory hacker”, and her book “The Memory Illusion” is an international bestseller.

In the course of her work and talks, Shaw shares fun and efficient techniques for processing the vast amounts of information with which we are bombarded. She examines the concepts of identity and diversity and offers answers to questions that have heightened importance in the digital age. Questions like: What memories am I basing my decisions on? How reliable is my memory? How can fake news affect our memory and our behavior? Or: Will artificial intelligence supplement or replace our memory?

Dr. Julia Shaw was born in Cologne, Germany, in 1987 and works as a research associate in the Department of Psychology at University College London (UCL), where she conducts research in criminal psychology, memory and artificial intelligence. In 2017, she started a company in Silicon Valley that uses artificial intelligence to try and combat workplace discrimination. Alongside her research, Dr. Shaw advices police, the military, justice officials and businesses in English and German-speaking countries on preventing common memory mistakes and making the most of our faulty memory.

Hypponen has a strong interest in the Internet of “smart” Things and makes the point on F-Secure’s blog Safe and Savvy that all IT security vulnerabilities “…stem from a basic fact of computing: if something can be programmed, it can be hacked.”

Hypponen is a world-renowned computer security expert and the Chief Research Officer of F-Secure, a Finnish cyber security company. He has written about his research for The New York Times, Wired and Scientific American, has lectured at Oxford, Stanford and Cambridge universities, and ranks among Foreign Policy magazine’s Top 100 Global Thinkers.

Hypponen is also the curator of the “Malware Museum” on the Internet Archive. The museum is an online repository of malware programs – now removed of their destructive capacity – that were distributed in the 1980s and 1990s on home computers.

Between 10 and 12 October, it-sa 2017 will host even more exhibitors than last time: Europe’s largest IT security exhibition will extend to two halls in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg, where exhibitors will present the latest in hardware and software and services for professional users. The high points will include three international pavilions and an extensive supporting programme comprising about 320 lectures. The four-day congress programme Congress@it-sa will start one day before the exhibition.

With exhibitor numbers expected to total around 580, from 23 countries (2016: 489 exhibitors from 19 countries), it-sa continues to grow, and will be held in two halls (9 and 10) for the first time this year. “Expanding to two halls gives us the space we need for more exhibitors, larger stands and even more information sharing,” says Frank Venjakob, Executive Director it-sa at NürnbergMesse, the event organiser.

International dialogue platform

For the first time, three countries will present their IT security skills with their own pavilion at it-sa. In addition to France, one of Germany’s most important trading partners, exhibitors from Czechia and companies from Israel will have their own shared pavilions. The list of registrants includes companies from Europe, the USA, Russia, Canada and Japan. “Because cyber criminality is a global phenomenon, security for digital infrastructures is growing in importance worldwide,” says Venjakob. “The international market for IT security solutions is also growing. And it-sa 2017 reflects that trend.”

Varied supporting programme on topics of current interest

it-sa’s popular forum programme is even more extensive than in previous years, with four lecture stages and about 320 items on the programme: in both halls, experts will report on the huge growth in IT security. Whereas the T9 and T10 forums will focus on technical aspects, the contributions in M9 and M10 are aimed at management. Young companies exhibiting at the special Startups@it-sa area will also have the opportunity to report on their solutions. High-profile lectures and discussion rounds – “it-sa insights” – will also deal with topics of current interest like artificial intelligence and the EU Data Protection Directive.

Pure professional knowledge in the accompanying congress

The supporting congress programme, Congress@it-sa, will include 15 lecture series, some spread over more than one day. The changing legal situation in the EU will also be one of the key questions in this area. This year, too, the IT Baseline Protection Day organised by Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security and the annual meeting for IT security chiefs at a State and municipal level will be held as part of the congress. The change of halls for it-sa is also reflected in changes in the congress events: this time they will be held in NCC Mitte, making it easy to access the exhibition activities.

France – présente pour la seconde fois

Ayant déjà pris part en 2016, la France participera pour la seconde fois à l’it-sa avec son propre pavillon. Les visiteurs professionnels y trouveront une gamme se rapportant aux secteurs Privileged Access Management et cryptage des mails ainsi que VPN Clients, outils de sécurité logicielle et sécurité des réseaux. Les sociétés Gatewatcher, Idnomic, TheGreenBow, Quarkslab et Wallix ont déjà confirmé leur participation dans le cadre du pavillon français dans le hall 10. D’après l’agence pour le développement économique Business France qui est chargée de l’organisation, on peut s’attendre à ce que d’autres entreprises y prennent part.

Israël – pavillon de la « start-up nation » agrandi

Israël est connu en tant que pays apportant son soutien aux start-up innovantes et berceau d’acteurs renommés du marché de la sécurité informatique. Sur un stand organisé par Israel Export Institute, des start-up et des entreprises en pleine expansion fourniront un aperçu compact de leur know-how dans le hall 9. C’est également pour la seconde fois, après 2016, que leur présentation commune enrichit l’it-sa. Aujourd’hui déjà, on enregistre une forte participation. Les entreprises suivantes sont inscrites actuellement : Bufferzone Security, Coronet, Cronus Cyber Technologies, Cyber SecBI, cyber sixgill, CybeReady Learning Solutions, Cytegic, empow cyber security, GuardiCore, Illusive Networks, Inpedio, Reblaze Technologies, Safe-T Data, Sasa – Software Cooperative Agricultural Society, Scadafence, Secdo, Securely.

République tchèque – centrée sur la sécurité de l’information

La République tchèque marque sa présence dans le hall 10 : Czech Trade, l’agence pour la promotion du commerce mise en place par le Ministère de l’Industrie et du Commerce, organise le troisième pavillon international dans le cadre de l‘it-sa 2017. Jusqu’à présent, les entreprises Datasys, GreyCortex, Novicom et ThreatMark ainsi que Network Security Monitoring Cluster, un regroupement d’organisations et les entreprises tchèques du secteur de la sécurité des réseaux et de l’information, sont inscrits en tant qu’exposants dans le cadre de ce pavillon.

Salons organisés par la NürnbergMesse sur le thème de la sécurité

La NürnbergMesse dispose d’une grande compétence en ce qui concerne le thème de la sécurité. Avec des manifestations telles que Enforce Tac – salon professionnel consacré au Law Enforcement, it-sa et it-sa Brasil – salons professionnels traitant de la sécurité informatique, FeuerTRUTZ – salon professionnel portant sur la protection préventive contre l’incendie, Perimeter Protection – salon professionnel sur le thème de la protection des terrains, FIRE & SECURITY INDIA EXPO et U.T.SEC – Unmanned Technologies & Security – elle rassemble au total environ 1 200 exposants et 30 000 visiteurs professionnels venant du monde entier.

Le salon européen de la sécurité informatique comptant le plus grand nombre d’exposants se développe encore : cinq mois avant l’it-sa 2017, la surface d’exposition réservée dépasse déjà d’un quart celle qui avait été atteinte par le dernier salon. Pour répondre à la forte demande des fournisseurs allemands et étrangers de sécurité informatique, l’it-sa qui aura lieu du 10 au 12 octobre occupera pour la première fois deux des halls du Parc des Expositions de Nuremberg.

En l’espace de très peu de temps, le logiciel de racket « Wanna Cry » a paralysé des centaines de milliers d’ordinateurs dans le monde entier, notamment ceux de la Deutsche Bahn (chemins de fer allemands) et des hôpitaux. Cette attaque prouve de nouveau à quel point les infrastructures informatiques modernes sont fragiles. Le salon it-sa montre comment les entreprises et les organisations peuvent se protéger contre les multiples atteintes à la sécurité. Nettement centré sur le thème de la sécurité informatique, il s’est fait un grand nom ces dernières années parmi les salons européens. Ayant accueilli 489 exposants la dernière fois en 2016, il a atteint la capacité maximum du hall 12 dans lequel il a toujours eu lieu depuis ses débuts en 2011. Pour l’it-sa 2017, la manifestation sera donc transférée dans les halls 9 et 10. Dès aujourd’hui, la surface d’exposition réservée dépasse d’un quart celle du dernier salon.

Evaluation positive des exposants

“De l’évaluation positive des exposants existants, beaucoup d’inscriptions nouvelles et un grand nombre de stands plus grands promettent qu’it-sa sera encore plus grand qu’avant. Ceci nous permet de créer l’espace nécessaire pour la croissance d’it-sa,” a dit Frank Venjakob, Executive Director it-sa à NürnbergMesse. Maintenant les visiteurs peuvent atteindre le salon directement par l’entrée Mitte du centre d’exposition de Nuremberg. Le programme du congrès Congress@it-sa aura lieu dans le voisinage immédiat et sera aussi accessible par l’entrée Mitte.

Notre stratégie d’exposition qui a du succès restera la même: it-sa couvre la gamme entière des solutions de sécurité IT actuelles des domaines comme le hardware, le software, la recherche, le consulting et les services pour la protection physique des centres de données.
