• With 221 exhibitors from 27 countries, the eighth Perimeter Protection sets an all-time high.
• More than 50 percent of the exhibitors come from abroad.
• With 45 presentations, the 2025 specialist forum offers the most comprehensive programme to date.

The success story of Perimeter Protection will continue in 2025: From 14-16 January, the international trade fair for perimeter protection, fencing and building security will take place for the eighth time at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg and is already setting new records. Minister of State Joachim Herrmann will be the patron of the event.

Trade visitors to Perimeter Protection 2025 can look forward to two fully booked exhibition halls. With over 200 exhibitors from 27 countries, more companies than ever are exhibiting their products at Perimeter Protection this year. And the trend of increasing internationality at the trade fair is also continuing: For the first time, more than half of the exhibitors come from international countries. Suppliers from Algeria, Greece, the Baltic States, Morocco, Romania, Israel, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates are new to the event.

“We are very much looking forward to three exciting days filled with numerous presentations, interesting innovations and intensive dialogue at this year’s Perimeter Protection. With its clear focus on the combination of mechanical, electrical and electronic measures for intelligent perimeter and building protection, the trade fair has established a unique position among security trade fairs that is also recognised internationally. With our number of exhibitors, we have clearly exceeded the 200 mark,” says Thomas Preutenborbeck, Member of the Management Board.

High number of visitors expected

“It’s not just the internationality of the exhibitors that has increased: The pre-registration of visitors makes it clear that exhibitors can once again look forward to many trade visitors from abroad in 2025,” says Preutenborbeck.

The good advance booking figures also indicate a general increase in visitor numbers. In 2023, more than 5,000 interested visitors were counted at the trade fair. Black Friday at the end of November already showed that the community was waiting for the trade fair to start. “We are delighted that the free tickets were so well received by our visitors – almost 400 ticket codes were redeemed on November 29,” reports Julia Urban, Manager of Perimeter Protection.

Background: November 29 was Black Friday and Perimeter Protection took part for the first time with a ticket campaign.

New space for promoting young talent

A new feature this year is the Career Zone for young professionals in the industry and career changers. In this area in Hall 2, motivated job seekers can find out about exciting offers, make new contacts and exchange ideas.

“The shortage of skilled labour is also clearly noticeable in the security industry, which is why we wanted a dedicated space for young professionals in the sector to exchange ideas,” explains Manager Urban. “Companies can display their job offers in the Career Zone in Hall 2, 2-707. We hope that the exhibitors will find the right talent for their companies in this way and wish the young talents every success in finding their dream jobs.”

Programme of the specialist forum online

With 45 presentations, the specialist forum in Hall 2 offers the most comprehensive programme to date. Over three days of the trade fair, industry experts will report on all aspects that are currently occupying the industry – for example, AI in perimeter security, large area surveillance and border security from the air, physical security of CRITIS objects and securing access systems.

The specialist forum is being organized in cooperation with the Verband für Sicherheitstechnik e.V. and UAV DACH e.V.

CRITIS Umbrella Act

The CRITIS Umbrella Act and the associated new regulations are a key topic for the specialist forum and for Perimeter Protection as a whole: “Many things are still unclear or not clearly defined in the implementation of the CRITIS Umbrella Act. For example, in terms of physical security, it is not clear which requirements have to be met, whether the same requirements apply to all sectors, what the reporting process looks like, how the periodic inspections have to be carried out, etc. We want to and will discuss all of these things at Perimeter Protection 2025 and present the current status,” explain the managing directors of the Verband für Sicherheitstechnik e.V. – Wilfried Joswig and Prof. Dr. Clemens Gause.

The entire interview on the CRITIS umbrella law in the knowledge area.

IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 Sets New Records and Delivers a Clear Message: The Industry Impresses with Market-Ready Innovative Products, Government Needs to Enable Progress Through Infrastructure Initiatives

145 world premieres demonstrate the impressive innovation of the industry – Visitors and exhibitors delighted and highly satisfied – IAA TRANSPORTATION is more international than ever – Record bookings for test drives – From talk to action: Policy makers must develop and implement a concrete action plan focusing on infrastructure

IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024, held from September 17-22 in Hannover, was a resounding success, captivating attendees and showcasing an industry setting new standards with investments and innovations. As the global leading platform for the commercial vehicle, logistics, and transport sectors, the event attracted nearly 1,700 exhibitors from 41 countries—a 21% increase compared to 2022. International participation reached a record-breaking 72%, with over 145 world and European premieres presented, proving that the future of mobility in this industry is already a reality. Visitor numbers reached approximately 145,000, marking round about 10 percent increase over 2022.

Hildegard Müller: “We Deliver. Our Industry Drives Transformation”
VDA President Hildegard Müller emphasized: “IAA TRANSPORTATION has powerfully demonstrated that our industry is actively driving the shift toward climate-neutral solutions through investment and innovation. We have already developed and brought to market climate-neutral and digital solutions to address the industry’s various challenges.” At the same time, it became clear in Hannover: “The biggest obstacle to a swift, successful, and widespread adoption of climate-neutral drives is the necessary infrastructure—especially in terms of charging stations and forward-thinking grid expansion, as well as hydrogen refueling stations. All relevant stakeholders must now be held accountable, with a clear roadmap, regular monitoring, and opportunities for adjustments. To make significant progress here, Berlin and Brussels need to establish an infrastructure initiative and implement it as quickly as possible.”

Impressive Presence and High International Attention
IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 garnered exceptional media attention. Over 1,400 journalists from 52 countries attended to report on the latest developments and innovations at the event. Half of the journalists came from abroad. Exhibitors held over 80 press conferences, with the majority of coverage—76%—focused on international media outlets from 116 countries. In addition to strong coverage in Germany, the USA, China, and Turkey were among the countries with the most intense reporting.

High International Resonance and Over 90% Satisfaction
This year’s event achieved an outstanding satisfaction rate of over 90%. The share of international trade visitors rose significantly to over 45%, with the Netherlands, China, and Sweden being the most represented countries. Overall, IAA impressed with exceptionally high satisfaction rates among trade visitors.

IAA TRANSPORTATION Strengthens Its Global Leadership Among Decision-Makers
The number of trade visitors in leadership positions increased by over 30% compared to 2022. More than half of all trade visitors held executive positions, with more than three-quarters being key decision-makers. Over 50% of trade visitors indicated plans to invest within the next six to twelve months, with more than half attending IAA TRANSPORTATION specifically to make those investment decisions.

Test Drives Excite Visitors
A special highlight of IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 was the Test Drives, where visitors had the opportunity to test the latest emission-free commercial vehicles both on the event grounds and on public roads. Renowned manufacturers offered test drives in 60 vehicles. In total, there were over 6,300 test drives, more than 2,200 on the cargo-bike course, and over 450 in the driving school. These numbers are nearly 15 percent above the previous IAA TRANSPORTATION record. Anyone who wanted to experience the new technologies had to act fast, as almost all slots were fully booked by early morning. The high demand for these test drives underscored the strong interest from both trade visitors and the public in the new technologies that will shape the future of transportation.

Successful Weekend Excites Drivers and Families
During the public weekend on September 21 and 22, IAA TRANSPORTATION opened its doors to the general public, offering a special program for the Driver and Family Weekend. In addition to the Test Drives, there was a vibrant lineup of music events, truck driving schools, and a truck racing show.

IAA TRANSPORTATION Sets the Bar for the Future
With the successful execution of IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024, the industry has proven that it is ready to actively shape the transformation toward climate-neutral mobility. The event made it clear that the necessary technologies and solutions are already in place—now, the path for their widespread adoption must be paved. IAA TRANSPORTATION remains the central meeting point for the mobility and logistics industry and will continue to accompany the transformation in the future. The next IAA TRANSPORTATION will take place from September 15-20, 2026, in Hannover, with Press Day on Monday, September 14, 2026.

365 days of networking in the medical technology industry

At the beginning of February, MedtecLIVE, the leading European trade fair for the production of medical technology products and door opener to the important European consumer and production market, launched a new format: the digital MedtecLIVE Community.

“Following the relaunch of the website, the community now offers the unique opportunity to continue the trade fair experience digitally throughout the year. We connect exhibitors and visitors with each other and with many other players in the medical technology industry,” says Christopher Boss, Managing Director of MedtecLIVE GmbH and Director of MedtecLIVE. The MedtecLIVE trade fair will take place in Stuttgart from June 18 to 20, 2024.

MedtecLIVE Community

“Network with experts online and then meet up in person at MedtecLIVE 2024. This is a central part of the new format,” says Boss, promoting the new MedtecLIVE Community. Users can exchange messages and arrange appointments long before the trade fair, subscribe to news about companies or topics and actively engage in discussions. “We are therefore linking the many great content offerings from our exhibitors to the editorial content from our website in the Inside Industry section with solutions, opinions, people and events from the community. This way, we are creating a unique format that is just as inviting for networking or targeted searches as it is for browsing. A format that always connects content with companies and people to ensure direct exchange,” says Boss.

Central focus topics 2024

MedtecLIVE rounds off its range and creates an effective and efficient exchange of knowledge on relevant industry topics both digitally and physically on site. Trends, news and regulations in the field of medical technology manufacturing and development are the major topics – both online and offline. This year the focus is on the “burning” topics: Automation, digitalization and circular economy. Another focus this year is the transformation from other industries to medical technology, but the topics of MDR and IVDR will also play a role in the diverse formats again this year. “We provide orientation for beginners and experts alike. In doing so, we contribute to an understandable picture of the industry with regard to the development and production of medical technology products,” says Boss.

Great interest among exhibitors

It is already becoming apparent that the trade fair, which is taking place in Hall 1 of Messe Stuttgart this year, will not only be able to grow with innovative formats onsite and online, but also in terms of exhibition space. After sending out the stand confirmations to the exhibitors, Boss draws a satisfied interim conclusion: “We are on target in terms of the number of exhibitors and floor space. We are therefore confident that in June, we will create an event in Stuttgart that will provide impetus and create new synergies – thanks to the diversity of exhibitors and visitors from all areas of medical technology.”

Since its premiere in 2010, Perimeter Protection, which is set to take place at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 17 to 19 January 2023, has enjoyed sustained growth. The mounting interest on the part of international exhibitors has led to a 20 percent increase in display area to 7,500 m2 in two halls. More than 190 exhibitors from 24 countries have registered for the exhibition for perimeter protection, fencing technology and building security. The integration of the special display area U.T.SEC@Perimeter Protection, the expert dialogue in the Specialist Forum and the Nuremberg Security Conference are sure to provide the industry with important impetus.

From 17 to 19 January 2023, following the pandemic-enforced break in 2022, Halls 1 and 2 at the Nuremberg exhibition venue will once again be the hotspot for intelligent building and perimeter protection, covering topics like video surveillance, access controls, fencing systems, building security and a whole lot more. At this stage, more than 190 exhibitors from 24 countries have registered for the opportunity to showcase their solutions for integrated security technology and perimeter protection.

U.T.SEC@Perimeter Protection platform with flight zone

A new feature is the integration of the special display area U.T.SEC@Perimeter Protection in Hall 2. U.T.SEC is the first platform worldwide to take a holistic approach to the cutting-edge issue of unmanned technologies with a focus on safety and security, putting the spotlight on the technical and legal options for improving safety. This includes protecting civilian, industrial and government premises against intrusion by unmanned vehicles. It is planned to include a flight zone for demonstrations of drone technology.

High-calibre presentations by experts in the Specialist Forum

Perimeter Protection 2023 once again includes a Specialist Forum featuring high-calibre speakers. Over the three days of the event, the forum will explore practical solutions, with plenty of opportunities for professional exchanges and dialogue with and among experts.

The topics of perimeter protection, fencing technologies, building security and unmanned technologies are an integral part of the forum, which is being realised in partnership with the Hamburg-based VfS – Association for Security Technology and UAV DACH – German-speaking Association for Unmanned Aviation, Berlin. The presentations will focus on innovative approaches and novel solutions and will address topical issues.

The forum includes the following highlights:

  • Maximum security for critical infrastructures thanks to LiDAR sensors
  • Plant security with tethered drones
  • AI-based detection using optical sensor fusion
  • Security in the lower airspace, report from SIMULU research project
  • The latest on the standards for doors and gates, status and outlook

In addition, the forum offers companies and institutions the opportunity to present their technical expertise and solutions to trade visitors and other attendees.

For detailed information on the Specialist Forum, go to:

Nuremberg Security Conference at Perimeter Protection

The Nuremberg Security Conference will take place on 18 January 2023 in the Brussels Room at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg. This event by the private security sector is designed for entrepreneurs and others with an interest in security who hope to achieve something privately or for the industry as a whole. The latest security topics will be explored in a series of targeted presentations. The event also features interesting exhibitors from the security sector.

The provisional numbers show Perimeter Protection has broken its own record once again: 180 exhibitors have registered so far for the event in January. The sector has had to wait three whole years, resulting in huge anticipation for the forthcoming show. The International Exhibition for Perimeter Protection, Fencing and Building Security will take place in the exhibition halls in Nuremberg from 17 to 19 January 2023. One thing is already clear: There will be highlights en masse.

Further, higher, faster: Perimeter Protection has followed a continuous pattern of growth since its launch in 2010. Whereas it began with 45 exhibitors in its first year, it has now achieved a record with two months still to go before the 2023 exhibition starts: “One hundred and eighty exhibiting companies clearly show how pleased everyone is to renew contact again after a three-year break,” says Hanna Schneider, Manager Perimeter Protection. “We are genuinely overwhelmed – after last year’s exhibition had to be postponed, more companies than ever have registered this time. The entire PP team is very happy to be able to hold the event again at last.” The event had to be deferred for a year because of the pandemic, and will be held at two-year intervals starting next year.

The exhibition area is also larger than ever before, at just under 7,300 square metres, with international firms accounting for about 2,900 of that total. The total exhibition area for the event is therefore almost 1,000 square metres larger than in 2020. The international exhibition area has increased by about 800 square metres. “It is clear that moving Perimeter Protection to the new Halls 1 and 2 was an important step,” observes Frank Venjakob, Director Exhibition Perimeter Protection. “These locations enable us to meet the exhibitors’ demands for plenty of space with no issues. We are particularly pleased to see 65 new exhibitors, who will make an excellent addition to the range of the exhibition with their new themes and products.” Bavarian MP Joachim Herrmann will act as patron of the exhibition, as in previous years, and will also attend for a personal tour on-site.

More professional interaction than ever

This year, the exhibitor and product platform offers an extensive overview that illustrates the range of highlights to be seen on-site. That gives both exhibitors and visitors the best opportunity to prepare in the lead-up to their participation, whether by arranging an appointment directly with the exhibitors, or by putting together and saving a visit list. The special U.T.SEC exhibition area, measuring more than 200 square metres, will impress not only with its own stand structure, but also because that is where visitors will discover all kinds of information on the technical, legal and practical opportunities available for the use of drones and other unmanned technologies, and for defence against such systems.

Information to the power of three

The latest developments, industry tips and, in particular, professional interaction are also on offer at the Nuremberg Security Conference in addition to the Exhibition itself. The all-day Conference will take place in the Brussels Room on 18 January. The programme and tickets can be found at www.nuernberger-sicherheitskonferenz.de, and may also be obtained at the venue. Tickets for the Nuremberg Security Conference include attendance at the Perimeter Protection exhibition.

The German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (DKE) will hold its meeting at the exhibition and will discuss and vote on a new standard.

The Bavarian Chamber of Civil Engineers will once again hold its regional gathering in parallel with the exhibition in 2023. That will enable participants to make the best use of the synergies there and benefit from direct professional interaction. Communicating, discussing and conversing – face to face. Following this lengthy interval, the focus will once again be on personal contact and direct interaction within the industry.

After two years of the COVID pandemic, the first HANNOVER MESSE came to a close, with exhibitors and organizers drawing a thoroughly positive balance sheet. HANNOVER MESSE demonstrated how the process of industrial transformation is progressing, and that industry has the answers to the dual challenge of climate protection and energy security.

Hannover, Germany. At the same time, it became clear that trade fairs, as a concrete networking venue for face-to-face contact, will remain a key business and innovation driver in the years to come. “The comeback of HANNOVER MESSE came at just the right time,” declared Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe. “In the face of disrupted supply chains, rising energy prices, inflation and climate change, it was all the more important to meet again face-to-face in the exhibition halls after two years marked by a pandemic, to take in the latest technology trends and get a window to the future. After four days at the tradeshow, industry, politics and research are all sending a clear signal from Hannover: Pandemics and wars must not and will not slow down the process of industrial transformation – to the contrary, we must move even faster to achieve the process of digitization and sustainability,” he added.

German Economics Minister Robert Habeck summed up the situation after a tour of the tradeshow on Tuesday: “Just taking in all the technologies on display here into account, we have the solution to all our current crises. What we see here at the trade fair is the reflection of the major problems of our time with concrete answers – which is a fascinating development.”

Round about 75,000 visitors networked with 2,500 exhibitors on ways and means of making their value chains fit for the future. “Exhibitors’ expectations at this special HANNOVER MESSE were fully met. Which was also reflected in the overwhelming intention to return again for HANNOVER MESSE 2023. Nearly all exhibitors have already announced that they will be back next year. I would like to thank all the people who have been so courageous with us in making this trade fair happen again, despite all the uncertainties of the last few weeks,” explained Köckler.

This assessment was seconded by ZVEI President and Chairman of the Hannover Messe Exhibitors’ Advisory Board Dr. Gunther Kegel, who explained: “The relaunch of Hannover Messe has been a great success and has come at exactly the right time. It is irreplaceable for the dialog between politics and industry, especially in changing political and social times like these. On the basis of their innovations, the companies in the electrical and digital industries have shown they can be relied on in the transformation toward a climate-neutral industrial society.”

“It is important that politicians now keep their word and provide the appropriate framework conditions so that the momentum of the trade fair can be translated into concrete action. We are looking forward next year to welcoming even more guests from abroad,” Kegel continued.

“With its thematic focus on energy, security of supply and industrial trans-formation, HANNOVER MESSE 2022 has impressively demonstrated that we need such a leading flagship fair – more than ever after two years of pandemic,” declared VDMA Executive Director Thilo Brodtmann. “In an environment that was more challenging than ever, the exhibits showed there is no sub¬stitute for personal contact. This applies to the relationship between companies and their clients or the next generation, but also to high-level discussions with politicians, for which Hannover Messe represents the ideal venue.”

Brodtmann continued, “Just having German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Economics and Climate Minister Robert Habeck, as well as Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger pledge their support for the concerns of industrial SMEs in Hannover means a great deal in times like these. That’s why we’re confident that, again next year, when guests will hopefully be able to travel from even further away, that Hannover Messe will continue to regain its traditional size and scope.”

Tradeshow attendees learned how they could use automation and digitization to reduce energy consumption in their factories and production facilities. How they could power their production using electricity from hydrogen or how they can build resilience into their supply chains. From large-scale solutions such as the digitization of development and production processes in automotive manufacturing, to algae as a substitute for plastic, to the targeted use of software to record and reduce the C02 footprint, HANNOVER MESSE offered a broad picture of the technological options for the industry of today and tomorrow.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and many of the decision-makers from politics and business warned against turning away from globalization. Nevertheless, a readjustment was necessary. The idea of “friend-shoring” was the buzzword at the fair. What was meant was building up production and business in countries that maintained a similar value system. Like the partner country Portugal, which presented itself during the fair as a highly attractive and dynamic location for investment and partnerships.

In addition to the 75,000 attendees on the exhibition grounds, another 15,000 visitors attended the event digitally. They followed the conference program, took advantage of the digital product presentations and conducted conversations via chat or video call. As Köckler put it: “We succeeded in bringing together the best of the real and digital worlds. Nevertheless, it has once again been confirmed: When thousands of visitors meet thousands of exhibitors, this is only possible in a direct, face-to-face setting. The magic of a fair cannot be digitally reproduced.”

The next HANNOVER MESSE takes place from 17 to 21 April 2023.

Increase in international exhibitors – Greater international representation and more networking opportunities – IAA Career as a talent pool for companies

New formats, new content, new exhibitors: The brand-new concept for this year’s IAA TRANSPORTATION from 20 to 25 September – a pioneering and leading international platform for commercial vehicles, transportation, logistics, and buses – has been very well received. Compared to past years, the number of international exhibitors and partners has increased. Newcomers like Hyzon Motors, Quantron AG, Nikola Corporation, HyMove, AirProducts & Chemicals, Linde, and Tevva will be joining big names like Shell, Swedish e-car pioneer Volta Trucks, and Chinese truck and engine manufacturer Weichai.

“We are very pleased to be able to make IAA TRANSPORTATION more attractive for international exhibitors with the entirely revamped concept and a broad range of information, from last mile and logistics to hydrogen and electric engines,” says VDA CEO Jürgen Mindel. “Now one thing is for sure: All the exhibitors present will benefit greatly from the greater international representation and networking.”

In addition to the international newcomers, IAA TRANSPORTATION is also welcoming numerous established exhibitors such as BYD, DAF, Daimler Truck, Ford, Ford Trucks, Iveco, MAN, Renault, SAIC, Scania, Siemens, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Volvo, and numerous manufacturers of trailers, enlargements and additions, as well as established vendors.

IAA Career for more communication and networking

“Future” is the key word at IAA Career. From professionals to newcomers, this year’s IAA TRANSPORTATION will be the doorway to a career or a career booster thanks to informative, communication-based formats like the Career Guided Tours and Employee Branding State. Participating companies also benefit from the high density of well educated and ambitious professionals and junior personnel who are at IAA Career to learn about potential new employers.

“Acquiring well educated, dedicated, and creative professionals and junior personnel is the top priority in every company in this industry these days,” says Mindel. “Their perspectives and creative ideas are paramount for overcoming the immense challenges of the coming years with regard to climate neutrality, digitisation, and networking. With IAA Career and its innovative concepts we want to help companies and potential employees make initial, direct contact with each other as pragmatically and as simply as possible.”
